The Lenôtre dining room in Kuwait City, with the Kuwait Towers visible through the window

Lenôtre Kuwait

Lenôtre is one of France’s great culinary names, founded in 1957 and known for its patisserie, boulangerie and refined French cooking. In May 2015 Paul Sarlas and our team were appointed to redevelop the concept in Kuwait and set it up for its next stage of growth.

Concept redevelopment and expansion strategy

The brief

Keep the French heritage, answer to Kuwait

In Kuwait, Lenôtre had built a portfolio of locations across the city, from a seafront café on the Gulf Road to sites in its leading malls.

By 2015 the proposition needed to evolve. The challenge was to strengthen its positioning and bring it closer to local dining preferences and expectations, without losing the French heritage that made the name worth having.

What we did

Redevelopment with expansion in mind

Our work looked at the concept as it stood, and at what it would need to become to grow.

Positioning

Clarified what Lenôtre should stand for in Kuwait: a French house with real heritage, relevant to the way people in the city meet, eat and celebrate.

The proposition

Evolved the offer across patisserie, boulangerie and the restaurant menu, balancing French classics with dishes suited to local tastes.

A platform for growth

Defined a more consistent, relevant model that could be repeated across new locations in Kuwait and the wider region.

The result

A more consistent platform for growth

The project gave Lenôtre Kuwait a clearer, more relevant proposition and a consistent platform from which to expand across Kuwait and the wider region.

It is a challenge we see often with international brands: the name travels, but the concept has to be translated for every market it enters. Our brand scaling work starts there.
