The brief
Something Bath had not seen before
Boho Marché was designed to stand on its own: a restaurant with its own street entrance that would bring something new and exciting to Queen Square.
We took our cues from Marrakech in the 1960s and 1970s, when the city drew musicians, artists, film-makers, models and fashion names from around the world, and added British and European flair. The idea was a bohemian market where different cultures collide to create something unique.

What we did
A concept built around the ritual of a shared meal
In this concept, dining is a ritual that brings friends, families and colleagues together. Everything we developed served that idea.
The concept
Positioning, story and guest experience for an all-day restaurant, from breakfast and brunch to a long dinner and a late cocktail.
The arrival
A floral, Andalusian-style entrance leading to a homely reception, setting the tone before guests reach the dining room.
The room
Parisian bistro furniture, velvet and rattan, abundant greenery and a life-size horse: a bohemian market rather than a hotel restaurant.
The menu
Mediterranean and European cooking with Moroccan influence, built on regional flavours and fresh local produce, from shakshuka and falafel to duck confit.
The bar
A soft, relaxed bar area for lounging in the evening, with a cocktail list to match the mood.
Private dining
La Mesa, a private dining room dressed in gold curtains and botanical wallpaper, for celebrations and business dinners.

The result
A colourful oasis in a Georgian building
Boho Marché opened in December 2020, at one of the hardest moments the industry has known, and gave Queen Square a colourful, all-day restaurant unlike anything else in the city.
Food Magazine described the look as “souk-meets-surf-shack-meets-jungle”, and the menu ran from breakfast to dinner with plenty of fresh, local produce.
It is a good example of how we help hotels give their restaurants a life of their own. See our hotel advisory and concept creation services.
